This week we bring you our rendition of “The Oath”, one of the most iconic emotional themes from Final Fantasy VIII. ⚔️

Composed by Nobuo Uematsu, this piece represents the resolve and leadership of Squall Leonhart, the reluctant hero of Balamb Garden. The track plays during several powerful moments throughout the story when Squall rises to the challenge and accepts his role as leader.

One of the most memorable scenes occurs during the Battle of the Gardens, when Squall delivers a speech to the struggling SeeDs and cadets of Balamb Garden, rallying them to stand their ground and fight. The theme also appears during the escape from D-District Prison, when Squall reunites with his companions, and later during emotional moments connected to Seifer, Fujin, and Raijin. 🦁

“The Oath” captures that quiet determination perfectly — a theme of responsibility, loyalty, and standing together even when the odds seem impossible. 🎶

This week we’re bringing you Amatsu Kaze, the powerful boss theme of Byakko, one of the legendary Four Lords from Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood. 🎶

The song plays during the climactic phase of the trial The Jade Stoa, when Byakko unleashes the full fury of the heavens. With thunderous vocals, driving drums, and a storm-like atmosphere, the track perfectly captures the rage and tragedy of the White Tiger. 🐅

Byakko was not always the mighty guardian he is known as today. Born with white fur, he was rejected by his own kind and hunted by humans. Forced into isolation, he wandered the mountains alone until he met Tenzen, a wandering samurai who could understand the language of beasts. ⚡

The two formed a bond of friendship, and Byakko followed Tenzen on his journey to protect the land. Together with the other sacred beings, they became known as the Four Lords, guardians who watched over the realm and maintained the seal on the destructive dragon Koryu. ✨

But over time, the Aramitama—the raging aspect of their souls—overwhelmed the Four Lords. When the Warrior of Light arrives at the Reisen Temple, they must face Byakko in battle and calm his tormented spirit. 🌩️

Amatsu Kaze reflects this struggle perfectly:
a storm of fury, sorrow, and unyielding spirit carried on the winds of destiny. 🔥
