This week we’re sailing back to Final Fantasy V with our own interpretation of the classic “Pirates Ahoy” – but the Happy Tunes crew decided this little pirate tune needed considerably more metal. 💥

Originally composed by Nobuo Uematsu, Pirates Ahoy — おれたちゃ海賊 (Oretacha Kaizoku), literally “We Are Pirates” — is the theme associated with the pirates of Final Fantasy V and their hideout. ☠️

And of course, when talking about pirates in FFV, there’s one captain who immediately comes to mind: Faris Scherwiz. 🏴‍☠️

So for our version, we took the adventurous spirit of the original and pushed it straight into Heavy Tunes territory: heavier guitars, more energy, and a healthy dose of Pirate Metal while keeping the recognizable melody at its heart. ⚔️

The result is our own little musical voyage from a classic 16-bit pirate theme to a full FFXIV Bard Band performance.🎸
